Inkspirational Challenge #4

The ladies over at the Inkspiration Challenge Blog have their fourth challenge it.  It is a Sketch Challenge.   Here is the sketch.

Here is my card.

When the card is open you can see that the heart is floating on the banner.

It hides a secret message inside the card!  This is a take off of a card by Jennifer McGuire from the Online Card Classes Holiday Card Workshop.  She put a small picture of her son underneath the heart.  The paper is from TPC Studio called My Funny Valentine Lucky Love.  The banner was cut using the Close To My Heart Artiste Cartridge.  The Love sentiment is from the Close To My Heart Roxie Kit.

I am also entering this at 52 Card Pickup.

I think I managed to get my camera to focus a little better by messing with some of the settings in the menu but the poor thing is still not working too good.

Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown

The challenge this week at Operation Write Home was Easter cards.  I apologize for the poor quality of this photo.  All of a sudden my camera has focusing problems.  It was sitting on the tripod very still and the auto focus kept going in and out.  I am afraid  that it is going to have to go in for repairs.  I'll have to try to use my cellphone while it is in getting fixed.  Anyway here is my Easter card.

This is a CASE from a card I saw on Splitcoast Stampers but now I can't find out who it was to give credit.  I used the Stampin'Up! Elegant Bouquet for the background embossing.  The embossing on the basket is Cuttlebug Picnic Check background.  The bird and brown leaves are a Stampin'Up punch.  The green leaves are from the Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Festive Greenery Sizzlit.  It is a Christmas Die but parts of it work well using lighter green cardstock.  The sentiment is from Stampin'Up Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I used the Stampin'Up Word Window Punch and Modern Label Punch.  Silver Liquid Pearls are the bird's eye and the label decorations.

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge #156

The sketch challenge #156 over at Operation Write Home threw me for a couple of days until I turned it on its side.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I went totally masculine and Tim Holtz distressed on this one.  The image is "Rusty Truck" from Stamper's Best stamped on craft cardstock with Walnut Stain Distressed ink.   It is mounted on Tim Holtz Distress collection core'dinations in Walnut Stain.  The cardstock base is embossed with Tim Holtz Steampunk Embossing Folder with all the gears.  I applied Walnut Stain Distressed ink to bring out the embossing more.  The ribbon is Tim Holtz idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon died with Vintage Photo Distressed ink and Broken China Distressed ink.  (I learned how to do this when I took a class from him at Scrapfest.)  He is an amazing person to take a class from.  You learn so much!  I finished it off with three copper mini brads from Oriental Trading company.  This also qualifies as a Monochromatic Color Scheme for the Operation Boot Camp Design ABCs of Color.  That is a great class by Paula on Color Theory.

Inkspirational Challenge #3

The ladies over at Inskiprational Challenges blog has a CASE Challenge for us this week.  Here is the card we are CASEing.

And here is my card:

That gorgeous paper is Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue "Island Jewel."  The minute I saw it in my stash I knew it was the one to use for this challenge.  Card stock is from Creative Memories.  "Thanks" stamp is from the K.Andrew Beautiful Wings set (no longer for sale on her website).  I just embossed a little line around three edges of the card for some dimension.  Another CAS card from me (very rare to do 2 in one week).

OWH Midweek Throwdown Show Us Your Green

The midweek challenge over at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog is to use green.  When I went to Scrapfest at the Mall of America last September I came home with a lot of goodies.  So many that I forgot I had some.  Yesterday I found a large package of Little Yellow Bicycle embellishments that were, yes....GREEN!  Lucky me!

And why would I be lucky?
Check out the inside of the card...

Because I found you. . .

OWH Stars and Stamp Sketch Challenge #155

Operation Write Home Stars and Stamp Blog Sketch Challenge #155 is here.  This was a little tough and I didn't know what to do with that strip over the top of the oval until I saw Sharon's card at the Desert Rose Outpost using vellum!  I really did love all the layers in this sketch.  Here is my take on it.

The paper and background stamps are from the Club Scrap Bon Apetite Greetings to go kit.  The butterfly and ribbon stamps are from the Close to My Heart Jardine Flair Stamp Set.  I used Stampin'Up Soft Suede ink for the background stamp and Ranger Adirondack Brights Raspberry Ink for the stripes.  I stamped the butterfly and ribbon in Ranger Jet Black Archival ink.  I used a Stampin'Up blender pen to color the stamped ribbon to match the striped background.

This card also qualifies for the Art Impressions Challenge 96 "Feeling Frosted."

Retrosketchs Challenge #45

When I saw the gorgeous card by Arielle Gordon (Snappy Stamper) on the Retrosketches Challenge #45, I knew I had to CASE it using the Operation Write Home Hero Arts Happy Birthday Stamp Set!

The sentiment a heart paper is from the Creative Memories "Be Mine" digital edition.  The Puffy Clouds Dies are from Memory Box.  The embossing folder is Cuttlebug  D'vine Swirl.  This card will be on its way next week to Operation Write Home for our Heroes to write home to loved ones on!

The ladies at Inkspirational Challenges have announced challenge #2.  It is a photo challenge.  Here is my entry to the challenge.

Here is the photo challenge to compare:

The DSP is October Afternoon "New York" (back side).  The stamp set is Stampin'Up! "Elements of Style."  That cute little label is from Jenni Bowlin "Red/Black Dotted Labels." along with the polka dotted red ribbon  and the DSP was part of a Card Kit from my friend Lori over at "Apron Strings Designs."  I love the kits she puts together.  So many creative goodies in her kits!

OWH Midweek Throwdown Sentiment Free

Operation Write Home's Midweek Throwdown is asking for cards that are sentiment free this week.  Last July I attended a rubber stamp show in Colorado Springs and got this neat "Poultry Party" stamp set and a great "Poultry Party" collage pack from Tweety Jill.  I had forgotten about it until Graphic 45 started showing their new "French Country" papers.  So my stamp and collage set is certainly up with the current craze!

The background paper is from a 6x6 paper pack from FarmHouse Paper Company "Sugar Hill Paper Pad."
Other stamps used:  sunflower stamp is an old one from StampinUp!  The French Railway stamp is from the Stampington and Company Time set.

Graphic 45 Place in Time Calendar

I am in love with the Graphic 45 Place in Time paper.  I am doing a calendar sheet each month and hanging it in my Creative Memories Magnetic Display.  The new displays don't have the ribbon across the front like mine.  They are sized to fit a 12 x 12 page.  It is a nice way to showcase your scrapbook creations.

I used SRM Calendar stickers for 2013 rather than make a calendar on the blank ones.  I'll post a new page each month to showcase the gorgeous paper.

January Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge

Every Month the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog hosts an Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge.  For every 25 cards posted to the challenge Our Daily Bread Designs will pay to ship one large box of cards overseas to our troops!  This months challenge was to have embossing on a card.  Here is my card for the challenge.

This card looks deceptively easy but I will tell you I goofed on  two sheets of the black flocked paper because I cut the angle the wrong direction!  Since I had already glued down the cream embossed paper I had no choice but to keep at it.  I can make four more cards with the wrong angled sheets as long as I cut the other half correctly!  LOL

The paper is from Die Cuts With a View (DCWV) La Creme Matstack.  The flower and velvet rickrack are from Creative Charms (sadly no longer in business).  The sentiment is from K.Andrew Designs "Winged Things" stamp set. (no longer available on her website)  The die cut label is from Stampin'Up!

I encourage you to make a card and post it to the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog so we can meet our goal of 50 cards.

InKspirational Challenge #1

My blogger friend Ellen Parker over at "In a World of Craft"  has helped start a new challenge blog called "InKspirational".  Their first challenge is a color challenge using Black, Dark Pink and Kiwi.  This was a tough one for me since I don't usually go for the bright colors.  Here is my card.

The Cricut die cuts are from the Home Decor Cartridge.  The Epic Love Stamp is from Operation Write Home Hero Arts Stamp Set .  The paper is from K&Company "Brenda Walton Mira Sepcialty Paper Pad" and the ribbon is from my stash.  (Someday I'll learn to tie pretty bows!)

OWH Midweek Throwdown Spring Flowers

My resolution this year is enter a card into all the Operation Write Home challenges!  Here is my first entry for the year, the Midweek Throwdown.  To top it off I am using something new (a stamp I have had for a while and had not inked up yet).  Let the cardmaking begin!

The stamp is from Penny Black "Mixed Media".  I stamped it on Ranger's Specialty Stamping Paper so all the fine detail in the stamp shows up beautifully.  The background paper is K&Company "Life's Little Occasions Neutral Designer Paper pad".  I used Operation Write Home's Sketch #1 as my guide.

I am also entering this in the Just For Fun Challenges "New." and the
Simon Says Stamp "New Something" challenge.
