Birthday Card for Hubby

When I saw this cute Headband Bunny over at Hambo Stamps I knew this would make a perfect card for my now "gray" hubby on his 60th birthday!

When I found the gray swirly DP in my digital files I knew they would make a perfect background for the Headband Bunny.  I had to cut him out digitally to mount him on the background using my Storybook Creator 4.0 software.  I used my Spellbinders Matting Basics A & B to cut him out and mount him on the DP and also for the flag.  I used my new Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder on the platinum shimmer cardstock and topped the flag with a black and silver Candi.

An update on Storybook Creator tells us that the Panstoria Company (original creators of SBC software) will take over product support for Storybook Creator and Memory Manager from Creative Memories.  This gave me a big sigh of relief because I love Storybook Creator and Memory Manager software.

Scrapbook Expo this Weekend

Scrapbook Expo showed up in Denver yesterday and today.  The first one here in Denver was last year and this one was bigger and better.  My Sister, SIL, a friend and I attended the all day crop Friday (until midnight) and shopped in the vendor area.  I took a class from The Rubber Cafe on fabulous fold cards and from SEI Crafts on making and envelope album.  Our Colorado based Clear Scraps company had a class on their Send it Clear Cards that I took also.  You'll be seeing some of the projects on my blog later.

I picked up quite a haul while shopping.  Some new Tim Holtz Sizzix dies, some Sizzix flower dies to help me finish up my daughters bouquet for the wedding in December.  I purchased 3 new embossing folders, six stamps from The Rubber Cafe and a Tea Party stamp from a company called Fun Stampers Journey (which I will use for some Wedding Shower Tea decor.  I also picked up some laser cut travel titles from The Paper Wizard and Petticoat Parlor to scrapbook our trips to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.  Alas, I didn't win the grand prize (one of the scrap & storage desks) but I did win an Envelope Punch Board and some Lestrat Markers.  It was a fun but exhausting weekend.  Back to cardmaking and preparing for a Wedding Shower and a Wedding!

House of Cards Classic & Elegant September Challenge

I'm back with another card for the House of Cards Challenge blog with a Classic & Elegant card theme for week three of our challenge.  Remember week one of every month is Cute & Fun, week two is Clean & Simple, week three is Classic & Elegant and week four is Shabby & Vintage.  Come join us for any of those weeks or all of them!  This month at House of Cards we are using this color pallet.

vintage hues

I loved the vintage purple hues in this but I was able to sneak in a little of the rustic orange into my card.

I used my Club Scrap July 2013 Wisteria Club Stamp kit to make this card.  I used Tim Holtz Distressed inks for the background  in Seedless Preserves, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord, Gathered Twigs, and Spiced Marmalade.  the large stamp was stamped with Range Archival Ink in Deep Purple.  I hope you take some time to play with these great colors and join us at House of Cards Challenge Blog.

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Round 8

Still working on the  Virtual Card Making Party this weekend for OWH.  There are ten challenges and the linkys will stay open until Sunday September 8th.  So there is lots of time to play along. This challenges is by Thia at Blue Moon Creations.  She calls it the un-bee-lievable challenge because we have to use bees on our cards and bee-sentiments.

I love the bees and butterflys on the Cricut Art Nouveau cartridge.  (I have to look up how to spell it every time!)  I glammed this bee up with Ranger Diamond and Yellow stickles (covered with glossy accents so they don't fall off).  The sentiment is K.Andrews designs.  DP is Basic Grey Hello Luscious.

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Round 7

Still working on the  Virtual Card Making Party this weekend for OWH.  There are ten challenges and the linkys will stay open until Sunday September 8th.  So there is lots of time to play along. This challenge is from Marilyn at Blessed Creativity.  She asked us to make a fall card but not a Thanksgiving card.

I used a bonus sketch from OWH but it was not listed as one of the 32 bonus sketches on the OWH website.  Someone needs to add this one in.

My DP on this card is a retired Creative Memories Bountiful DP.  The ribbon is May Arts Sheer ribbon with ruffle in Antique Gold.  Sentiment is Stampin'Up!.

I also wanted to add my card to the tutorial on coloring House Mouse images.  I dug out one of mine and followed to tutorial to come up with this card.  I had forgotten that I did this one.  And now I have forgotten which OWH sketch I used and what DP I used.

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Round 6

Still working on the  Virtual Card Making Party this weekend for OWH.  There are ten challenges and the linkys will stay open until Sunday September 8th.  So there is lots of time to play along.  This challenge was hosted by Sybrina K at Scarpping with Purpose.  She challenged us to make a card for a kid using the Tic Tac Toe grid below.

I went straight down the middle taking a cue from Paula at Handmade by Paula.  She reminded me of this cute "Punny" stamp set that was an OWH fundraiser.  You can still get them at Stamper's Best.

The turtle is paper pieced onto Jillibean Soup Irish Farm House Soup and colored with Distressed Markers.  I used OWH Sketch #68 as my inspiration.  Sentiment is stamped with StampinUp! Old Olive ink.  Still three more challenges to go.

OWH Sketch #188 French Country

Still working on the  Virtual Card Making Party this weekend for OWH.  There are ten challenges and the linkys will stay open until Sunday September 8th.  So there is lots of time to play along. This is Challenge 6 and the weekly sketch for OWH.  The minute I saw this sketch I knew what I was going to do with it.

I just got some Graphic 45 French Country and I knew this sketch was perfect for it.  The sentiment is from Close to My Heart Jardine set.  It was a little sad to cover up the cute rooster and sunflowers inside the beautiful frame but I couldn't figure out any other way that looked good to get this sentiment on there.  I made my own background using cream cardstock, Vintage Photo distress ink, French Foliage stamp and Smokey Slate ink from Stampin'Up.  I distressed the edges with Fired Brick and Aged Mahagony distress ink.

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Round 5

OWH is having a Virtual Card Making Party this weekend.  There are ten challenges and the linkys will stay open until Sunday September 8th.  So there is lots of time to play along.  Challenge 5 is from Donna over at Donna Inks.  She asked us to use masking tape on your acrylic stamping block to create a background.  I really enjoyed trying this technique out.

After covering my acrylic block with Artist Tape (I couldn't find the masking tape). I inked it with Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Pale Tomato.  I stamped down on the paper with a piece of foam underneath to get a good image.  The stamp set is from Close to My Heart "Home of the Brave."  I always use Range Archival Ink in Jet Black when I need a good solid black image like Lady Liberty here.  The stars are stamped three times with Stampin'Up Mariana Mists.  I coated the three largest stars with blue Stickles and will finish them off with glossy accents before I send this off as an anyhero card.  Only 5 more challenges to go.  Catch you later!

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Round 4

OWH is having a Virtual Card Making Party this weekend.  There are ten challenges and the linkys will stay open until Sunday September 8th.  So there is lots of time to play along. Challenge four is by Annette.  She asked us to make a love card using OWH sketch #29.

The DPs are some I won in another OWH challenge.  While I was making this it occurred to me that the large white rectangle is the exact size of an Artist's Trading Card (ATC).  The stamp is used is a Tim Holtz collage stamp designed for ATCs.  I just added the love stamp and heart from the Lovely Little Labels Stampin'Up! set.  It is late so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to do some more challenges.  Have a great evening.

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Round 3

OWH is having a Virtual Card Making Party this weekend.  There are ten challenges and the linkys will stay open until Sunday September 8th.  So there is lots of time to play along.  I got started a little late myselft on this but hope to catch up before the deadline! Challenge 3 is by Seongsook at Seongsook's Creations.  She demonstrated her Triple Time Die Cutting Technique.  A different way make this card and it saves paper.

I moved my dies up on the card and saved room at the bottom for the sentiment.  This paper is Echo Park Winter Park by Lori Whitlock. Sentiment is Hero Arts.   I'll be back later with some more challenges.

OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party Round 2

OWH is having a Virtual Card Making Party this weekend.  There are ten challenges and the linkys will stay open until Sunday September 8th.  So there is lots of time to play along.  I got started a little late myselft on this but hope to catch up before the deadline!  The second challenge is from Diane over at All I Need is Paper and Ink...  She asked us to create a card with elements that represent each first letter of Operation Write Home.

Papers are Lilybee Pinwheel apricot tree and lime rickey.  They were part of my Apron Strings Monthly Card Kit for August. The ribbon and word bubble are from that kit also.  The letters are some Cosmo Cricket letters I had but I was out of "e"s so I had to make one out of a "c" and my white pen.  So here is my answer to the challenge:

O = Orange
W = Off White, Words
H = Hello

Catch up with you later for more challenges.

I used a Close to My Heart Stamp heat embossed with  Ranger super fine detail silver metallic.  (Sadly this does not show well in the picture.)  I used the Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder for the background.  Sentiment is Hero Arts.  I'll be back with more of these challenges later.
